Trump Isssued a Government Shutdown

Longest government shutdown in history. Trump is refusing to approve a budget unless it includes $5.7 billion dollars to go towards a wall along the Mexican border. He is trying to make Mexico pay for most of it which is really degrading towards them. Democrats has been rejecting his fundings to build the wall and they won’t negotiate with him at all until the government is reopened. About 350,000 people get a type of temporay “by-off” while everyone else is expected to continue to work.

Trump Refuses on backing Up

Trump has rejected Senator Lindsey Graham’s suggestion that he should reopen the government so that they can negotiate about the border wall. Trump claims that he doesn't just want to “delay” the shutdown. He just wants to get this whole situation solved. This is affecting thousands of people that work government jobs because they are expected to continue working in this shutdown with no pay. On top of all of this there has been rumors that Trump has been working with Russia but he claims that it is a false claim.

The Cause of the Shutdown

Since December 2018, Donald Trump has issued a government shutdown; which currently is still going on. Trump couldn’t agree on any appropriations bill. He always tried to find a way to get what he wants in every situation so he would make it as difficult as possible for people to finally get on board with his decision to build the wall that he has been talking about since 2016. This shutdown has been going on for over 30 days which is a record in history for government shutdowns. He wanted to continue his campaign to “build the wall” and he continues to refuse to sign any appropriations bill that won’t fund his wall. Trump is abusing his power to veto any bill that won’t fund his wall. He always had something against immigrants and don’t appreciate the work that they have done when they came to America.

No Current Soultion to the Shutdown

There are more than 800,000 federal employees currently waiting and wondering when they will get their paychecks. Some of these people had to sell their car to pay their rent, while others are getting evicted for not paying rent. The Democrats refuse to work with Trump because they don’t agree with Trump’s decision. They knew that Trump won’t give this up and that he wants this to get funding before his term is over. The Democrats are trying to find a way to get more time so that they can make an agreement. The Republicans say they won’t vote on any bills that President Trump won’t sign because they are on his side and since Trump is the President, his vote is the "most important" out of them all. Federal workers should be concerned about a future Government Shutdown because this fight for the wall to be built has just started. It was first an idea and now Trump is trying to make it into a reality.
